yes, it is true. i don’t cook. not only do i not cook, but i also do not like to cook. i can attribute this mostly due to the fact that i have absolutely no patience when it comes to cooking (or anything else). for instance, “bake at 250 degrees on low for 30 minutes” equals “450 degrees for 10 minutes” in my cookbook! i am the only one i know who messed up rice krispy treats since i didn’t have enough patience to slowly melt the marshmallows!
so what’s a modern mama to do when it comes to her kids eating healthy each night. ok, let’s scratch that – so what’s a modern mama to do when it comes to her kids just EATING every night?! in addtion to fast food (i know, shame-shame), i try to ‘prepare and present’ (translation open box and microwave) a decent meal. and, occasionally, i just might channel my inner emeril and boil some water and actually use that square thing with the circles on top to make some pasta with my good friend, ragu.
all joking aside, here are a few of the modern mama’s favorites when it comes to quick, easy – and of course, tasty!
pick-up/bring home:
- panda
- chipotle
- rubios
- in-n-out burger
- chick-fil-a
- pizza hut pizza mia (can’t go wrong with $5.00 pizzas!)
frozen/microwaveable (all found in the freezer isle at super target…sorry, i don’t get out much!)
- white castle hamburgers
- stouffer’s southwestern panini
- el monterrey chicken enchiladas
- archer farms whole wheat 7-cheese lasagna
- foster farms corn dogs
- tyson’s teriyaki chicken breast (white meat)
got any favs that make your weekly rotation?! this modern mama wants to know…and i am sure her kids will be happy, too!

You should try Tastefully Simple . . . everything is SO easy, yummy and doesn’t take much time. For example, the viva alfredo, just add cream, simmer for 5 minutes and you have the yummiest alfredo sauce! Better than take out I swear! Check it out!

OMG! I swear we are clones of the same person! I hate to cook! I hate to grocery shop! We are truly kindred spirits! If it wasnt for the microwave we would die of starvation!
