yes! after a year off of not posting to my blog - i’m back! and this time (hopefully!) for good! thank you to all my fans out there who looked forward to reading my blogs (ok, thanks mom, dad, and that crazy lady down the street with the eight cats ;)) …seriously, imagine my surprise when i finally went into my inbox and found out that some of you have wondered what happened to the modern mama! did some mom in her xxl disney princess tee and matching spandex (if you don’t get this ‘joke’, read archived post ‘disney is a destination, not a designer part I) come and hunt her down after reading a few posts? did she buy a mini-van and crockpot and join the recipe of the month club?! nope, the fact is i was just busy - a term that ALL you mamas out there can relate to way too well. now that the wee ones are a little older at 2yrs and 4yrs, i finally have more time to do some posting on a regular basis since now the kids actually enjoy each others company for the most part instead of trying to use each other for target practice, sparring, or to conduct a ‘creative’ scientific experiment that never seems to go quite right.
speaking of this, i have now come to realize that curious george is the devil in monkey’s clothing! you (and i) view it as a 30 minute educational show on pbs that keeps the kids occupied for a short period of time - but do you know WHY they are so occupied and quiet during the show?! no, not because he is a cute little monkey…it is because this cute little monkey is TEACHING your little ones how to be uber mischievous! for example, one day my kids ‘randomly’ started getting cans out of the pantry and tried planting them in the backyard to grow food..another day they ‘randomly’ became extra fascinated with the bathtub and soap and tried to make ’snow’…and yet another day, wanted to ‘play’ with the alarm clock so they could set the time back an hour to give them more play time before having to go to bed. At first, my reaction to these cute, ‘creative’ ideas of inquiry/experiments was “wow, my kids sure are creative and smart!”…and then i realized it was the damn monkey! for example, here are some past episodes of curious george - ‘curious george plants a garden’, ‘curious george plays in the snow’…have you made the connection yet?! actually, curious george is one of my favorite kids shows that i actually enjoy watching with the kids. it sure beats spongebob and wonderpets…what is up with those shows?! that’s a whole new subject and future post!
anways, please visit my blog and come back often to share stories and opinions (translation: vent) with other fabulous mamas just like yourself on all things related to kids, shopping, fashion, home decor, party planning, love, and life - you know, those things our other half just doesn’t want to listen to (especially during football season!) …and don’t forget to tell a friend!
